Some nursing mothers have expressed their anxiety over their children getting disabilities due to the shortage of vaccines in the country.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio, a nursing mother by the name Naa Dromo Torto lamented that her child who is four months old has not been vaccinated against polio for the past two months.
According to her, the children that were delivered in February are yet to receive vaccines and this has caused fear in most nursing mothers because these children might suffer from disabilities in the near future. “Our children are at an high risk of suffering from disorders because of the shortage of the vaccines,” she noted.
“They promised us last month that our children will receive the vaccine this month because there was shortage of vaccines but that is the same story they are telling us this month,” she responded when asked about the assurance they have received.
Georgina Annum who is also a nursing mother disclosed that due to the shortage of the vaccines her 9 months old baby has not been vaccinated against polio and yellow fever for almost two months now.
