Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, issued a strong plea to all Ashanti Region households to donate GH¢200 per month for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) renovations.
The king is leading the initiative known as “Heak Komfo Anokye,” which aims to raise $10 million for the facility’s renovation.
Minutes after the Ashanti land’s overlord made his appeal, Ashantis from both home and abroad responded.
An hour following the otumfuo’s request, Ghanaians domestically and outside sent millions of Ghana cedis, according to the Asante Nation, a social media account connected to the Manhyia Palace.
According to a list of contributors seen by 1Family Radio, some of the participants included Francis Asenso Boakye, the MP for Bantama; Muntake Mubarak, the MP for Asawase; Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, the MP for Suame; and the majority leader, who each contributed GH¢100, 000.
