In response to Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture’s recent critiques, Kennedy Agyapong, the flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has challenged Koomson to ask President Nana Addo Danwka Akufo-Addo how she got her ministerial appointment.
Agyapong claims that he and Central Regional Chairman Robert Kutin Jr. were instrumental in getting her appointed.
Kennedy Agyapong asserted in a Kastle FM interview that 1Family Radio monitored that he and Chairman Kutin were responsible for nearly 90% of the ministry selections in the Central Region.
Agyapong claims that despite his attempts to advocate on behalf of Hawa Koomson and other ministers, they have abandoned him.
“He had already completed sharing the role, and Hawa Koomson was left out. We were battling for Alex Markin, to be honest with you, but he had problems. President Akufo-Addo did not want to hear his name since they claimed he had committed certain violations with Agric Bank. Thus, Hawa Koomson was the most senior, and that’s how she was appointed minister.”
”The last time we met, I asked the president, ‘wasn’t I the one who came to you and fought to create a special initiative for Hawa Koomson?'” She ought to go ask now. “I am putting forth a challenge to every minister in the region who obtained their positions without my help,” he angrily declared.
”I want to tell her that if she feels like it, she should go to Akufo-Addo’s house and ask him how she got her ministerial position—that is, how they created a special initiative for her. “Your choice is your choice, as long as you don’t go out to insult me like Hawa Koomson has done.”
“Hawa Koomson, who is currently making a lot of negative remarks about me, ought to go ask Chairman Butey and President Akufo-Addo,” he continued. If there is a politician in the Central Region who can equal my contribution to the region, I challenge them all.”
