Following his monumental BET Hip Hop Awards victory, Ghanaians, particularly Black Sherif supporters, have been celebrating the young artist with pleasure and pride on social media.
The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards were presented on October 3, 2023, at Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta. Blacko, as the popular singer is commonly known, was awarded the Best International Flow category award.
The music icon, who has experienced an exponential rise in popularity over the past two years, has defeated legends from around the globe, including AKA (South Africa), Central Cee (UK), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O. (South Africa), Major RD (Brazil), Ninho (France), Sampa The Great (Zambia), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).
He is the second Ghanaian artist to win this category after Sarkodie did so in 2019, the category’s first year of competition.
Considering his prior nomination in the Best International Flow Category at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, where he lost to Benjamin EPPS, Twitter users claim that his victory is a breath of fresh air.
