Kennedy Agyapong’s potential nomination as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been challenged by Apostle Agyenim Boateng of Peniel Outreach Ministries International.
According to the pastor, Ken Agyapong is not eligible to serve as the party’s flagbearer or as president of the nation because of his previous behavior, especially his disdain for Christendom.
In an interview that was monitored by 1Family Radio, Apostle Agyenim stressed that only Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia can guarantee victory for the NPP in the upcoming elections in December 2024. He therefore asked the NPP delegates to carefully consider their decision for the presidential candidate.
He emphasized the contentious instances when Agyapong forthrightly attacked the church in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak.
“When COVID came, a man that I respect so much, I respect him more than any other honorable man in Ghana, Kennedy Agyapong. I respect him more than any other men of God.’’
He continued, “But when COVID came, this man rose up against the church, thinking that he was disgracing the churches, and he had the audacity to say that if he were the president, he would collapse all one-man churches in Ghana, and today the same man needs the church’s voice.’’
“When you are talking, be careful. I am telling you that the only hope, and I am saying it again and again that the only hope for the NPP is Dr. Bawumia; if not him, the party will lose. If they get 38%, then it means that God is not alive.’’
“The same man that rose up against the church, and Ghana is a Christian country, and this man who rose up singlehandedly against the church claimed that if he were the head, only Roman, Methodist, and Pentecost would be left, and today the same man needs the same people to vote, you see how God is?’’ he stated.
