Two alleged robbers, Philip Awuah, 28, known by the alias “opanka,” and Kwaku Yeboah Stephen, 23, are fighting for their lives after being discovered stealing, according to the Mampong Police in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, according to police reports, entered the Tewobaabi settlement close to Mamponteng early in the morning with the intention of stealing, but they ended up caught while carrying out their plan.
The incident, which happened on August 13, 2023, apparently involved a mob assaulting the victims badly and some individuals butchering them in public with sharp machetes.
The two robbers suffered terrible injuries as a result, and soon after the mob fled the area, they started to lose strength.
When the Mamponteng Day police patrol squad arrived a little while later, they discovered Yeboah Stephens and Philip Awuah with multiple cutlass wounds lying in a bloody pool in a bush monitored by 1 Family Radio.
According to the Daily Guide newspaper, the police then rushed both suspects to the Methodist Healing Faith Hospital in Ankaase, where they were admitted and given medical attention.
Based on a preliminary police investigation, the suspects traveled to Madina, a neighborhood within Tewobaabi in the Ashanti area, to steal. Unfortunately, they had bad luck because they were given a furious chase.
The Mamponteng Police are diligently investigating the case in the meantime to learn the details and deal with the two suspects if they are discovered to be responsible for the heist.
