The Akufo-Addo-led government has come under fire from Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the lawmaker from Assin Central and a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The lawmaker slammed the administration for the nation’s present fiscal woes when speaking to some party delegates on Kintampo over the weekend, which was broadcast by 1Family Radio.
Despite the fact that he didn’t give a specific name, it has been inferred that his comment was directed at the vice president, who is the head of the economic team of the country and also a flagbearer hopeful of the NPP party.
“It is only in Ghana that you can take the economy to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and still call yourself a strategist.’’
‘’If the NPP doesn’t do a clean campaign, there will always be trouble because I will respond to every allegation made against me,’’ he warned.
“When we were taking over power, the dollar was GH4, today, one dollar is GH12, and you still call yourself a strategist. Excuse me! A strategist indeed.’’
He claimed that as of March 2022, he had 40 million dollars’ worth of Cedi equivalent, but as of August 2022, that amount had dropped to 16 million.
“Who is the one claiming to be a strategist? Don’t let anyone scare you. We will make Ghana a better place by using practical wisdom.’’
In addition, he asserted that he would be a more effective administrator of the economy than the other candidates.
“The youth will graduate from universities and will not get any work to do, and you are still calling yourself a strategist. I employ over 1,000 individuals every month. Between you and I, who is a strategist?’’ he quizzed.
