According to Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader in parliament, major decisions can still be made whether or not the minority caucus is present in the house.
In order to support James Gyakye Quayson whenever he must appear in court, the NDC minority caucus in parliament has declared that they will boycott parliament.
However, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has asserted that the majority caucus, which consists of roughly 138 legislators, can handle the business of parliament.
The MP for Suame said in an interview with Onua TV on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, which 1Family Radio listened to, that he had tried to talk the minority leader out of this decision but to no effect.
“I intend to engage my colleague and compatriot, the Minority Leader, but if they insist that they won’t attend to the business of the parliament, what else can we do? He quizzed.
“What else can we do? We only then have to mobilize our numbers to attend to the business of the house,’’ he said.
“We can take decisions in their absence. If we have 138, we can make any decision,’’ Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu noted.
“Even the budget they said they had rejected, we were 138 and took a decision,’’ he added.
