The criminal trial against the newly elected Member of Parliament of Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has been adjourned till July 4, 2023.
This decision by the court will enable his attorneys to submit a motion to suspend the case while they file an appeal at the Court of Appeal.
News reaching us here at 1Family Radio indicates that the court’s decision to adjourn the hearing is made completely at its own volition and not for the parties’ expediency.
The decision meant that regardless of his political standing as an MP , Gyakye will appear in court every day starting on Tuesday, July 4, when the hearing will officially begin.
Mr. Gyakye Quayson is filing an appeal against a ruling by the High Court that was supposed to enable his criminal case to be heard every day.
On Friday, June 23, the court presided over by Justice Mary Yanzuh rejected a request for a different time for the case’s hearing made by Mr. Gyakye Quayson’s attorneys.
