The residents of the Assin North constituency have been advised by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to exercise prudence when choosing a candidate to serve as their representative in parliament in the approaching by-election.
The president made a suggestion that James Gyakye Quayson, the expelled lawmaker for Assin North, is probably going to wind up in jail when he spoke to some locals on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Church of Pentecost in Assin Akonfudi in the constituency, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
In light of the fact that Gyakye may be facing imprisonment, he warned the electorate not vote for him in the upcoming by-election, saying that doing so would be pointless.
“I’ve heard Quayson claim that you would vote for him even if he were in jail. Eii! What good is it to vote for someone who will be locked up? What benefit are we going to receive from that?’’ the president quizzed.
He contends that the community does not need someone who will be imprisoned but rather someone who can address the issues and difficulties that Assin North residents face.
“We want a candidate who will be able to approach me after the election so that we can sit down and work out ways to address your problems as well as a strategy for developing your constituency,” he said.
