The Mpohor District Police Command has detained a young man believed to be in his early 30s for allegedly murdering his 25-year-old wife.
This unfortunate incident occurred at Wiredukrom, a small community in the Mpohor district in the Western region.
According to reports, the suspect, who has been identified as Atta Sani, butchered his wife, Maame Ama, after she threatened to file for divorce.
Speaking in an interview on Connect FM, monitored by 1Family Radio, the brother of the deceased gave the details of what ensued between the married couples prior to the murder of her sister.
“As a result of recent disputes where the husband attacked her over even the smallest of matters, my sister had become weary of the marriage. Her decision to end the marriage has been made known to us, and we have been preparing for it.’’
“She left her marital home and was finding tranquility in the home of a different woman in the same neighborhood. Her husband went for her in the guise of discussing an important issue with her and committed the crime,’’ Kwaku Adams noted.
“My sister followed her husband alongside their 2-year-old child to their matrimonial house because she thought there was a serious issue that must be addressed and that when he had the chance to butcher my sister,
“The two were reportedly arguing in the room, according to the neighbors, who subsequently discovered he had butchered her. He fled after leaving the toddler standing next to the mother’s dead body,’’ he said.
According to the brother of the woman, the couple have three children.
The husband is currently in the custody of the police to assist the police in investigation.
