An openly gay British-Nigerian LGBTQ+ rights activist and an ordained priest by the Anglican Church of England, Rev. Jide Macaulay has launched a scathing attack on Sam Nartey George, a Ghanaian lawmaker for Ningo Prampram.
His attack follows a tweet shared by Rightify Ghana, an organization that advocates for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana.
“Lead sponsor of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, Hon. Sam George, falsely claims that the LGBTQI community in Ghana was asking for same-sex marriage; says what they do in their bedroom, they now want to ‘’shove it down my throat’’ and ‘’socialize my children,’’ the group wrote.
In reaction to this, Rev. Jide Macaulay, has alleged that Sam George is a threat to national security and also lacks intelligence in human sexuality.
“Sam George lacks the basic intelligence in understanding human sexuality,’’ the priest wrote in a tweet sighted by 1Family Radio.
“He is a failed politician, a national disgrace, a threat to national security and he needed hatred to boost his career. His explanation makes no sense.’’
“LGBTQ people are not asking for marriage in Ghana, they are asking for protection from violence, safety to life, the right to assemble, enjoyment of their lives, and the highest standard of healthcare. Queer Ghanaians are peace lovers,’’ he added.
