Bawumia Must Win (BMW), the campaign team for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reacted to the branded campaign pick-ups circulating on social media.
According to the group, the captions and voiceovers used for the videos and pictures of the vehicles online are nothing but lies aimed at causing disaffection for the noble Vice President of Ghana.
In a statement release issued and signed by Gyesi Boako, the president of the Bawumia Must Win team, it was noted that “the pick-ups are six in number and not one hundred as alleged and publicized by the NDC Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson Dafeamekpor and his collaborators.’’
The statement that was sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that these vehicles were not bought by the Vice President but were given by some volunteers who believe in the vision of Dr. Bawumia.
“The vehicles (pick-ups) in question were neither bought, branded, or paid for by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia nor his campaign office.’’
“The vehicles were not and could not have been bought with proceeds from yet-to-arrive IMF funds, as mischievously put out by the NDC and asserted by the “internal saboteurs’’, the statement noted.
“The vehicles belong to a group of individuals who believe in and share in the vision of Dr. Bawumia. The vehicles are to be used and returned to the owners after the campaign. This is not paid and will not be the first or last time private citizens have donated vehicles to support a politician’s campaign,’’ the group said.
The Bawumia Must Win team proceeded by saying that Vice President Dr. Bawumia remains focused and will not be distracted by negative commentary by political desperados.
“The general public is entreated to ignore the propaganda sophistry,’’ the group added.
