Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana has disclosed that the president gave him the green light before embarking on the revenue mobilization exercise.
He added that some other high-ranking officials including the vice president, the Minister of Energy and the Chief of Staff are also in support of the debt recovery exercise by the power distributing company.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM monitored by 1Family Radio, Dubik stated that some cases of disconnection were reported to the president but he asked those individuals to settle their debts.
According to him, the support of these officials has been significant in the recovery exercise and he is grateful for their unflinching support.
“I really commend the president because before I commenced the exercise, I spoke with him and he was like, mister, go and collect your monies, is about time we do the right thing in the country,’’ he said.
Mr. Mahama continued, “in most of the disconnection cases that were reported to the president, he told the individuals to go and settle their debts because no one will do it for them.’’
“If you don’t pay your debts, who do you expect to pay it for you,’’ the president was reported to have said.
Dubik added that the massive support from the president, vice president and the other officials has really been helpful.
