The new appointed coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has named of his squad ahead of the doubleheader against Angola in the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The first league will come off at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on the 23rd of March ,2023, with the second league happening four days later in Luanda. Ghana will compete with Angola in order to secure a ticket to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The squad which was announced on March 9,2023 included returnees like Joseph Wollacott, Joseph Painstill, Majeed Ashimeru, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, and Edmund Addo.
The 25-man squad is led by Andre Ayew as the captain. However, Baba Rahman and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku were dropped from the new squad.
The new squad featured Lawrence Ati Zigi, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen and Joseph Wollacott as the goalkeepers of the team.
Tariq Lamptey, Denis Odoi, Gideon Mensah, Patrick Kpozo, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku are the current defenders of the Black Stars.
The Midfielders include Thomas Partey, Majeed Ashimeru, Abdul Salis Samed and Edmund Addo.
Jordan Ayew, Osman Bukari, Joseph Painstill, Kamal Deen Sulemana and Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer will be playing as the wingers of the team.
The forwards are Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah, Inaki Williams and Antonine Semenyo.
