Hon. Kwaku Amankwa Manu, the Deputy Defence Minister of Ghana has disclosed that government will not apologize to any civilian in Ashaiman for the military brutality that occurred in the area.

On Tuesday, March 7,2023, some military men stormed Taifa in Ashaiman and brutalized some of the civilians in the area for allegedly stabbing a young soldier by the name Trooper Sheriff Imoro on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News monitored by 1Family Radio, the minister indicated that the government is not obliged to apologize to anyone for the swoop which was conducted.

According to him, although the government feels sorry for the brutality meted out to some innocent civilians, the government will not apologize for the presence of the military in the area.

“In my capacity as the deputy defence minister, I apologize to the decent and innocent residents of Ashaiman who were affected by the operation,” he noted. He however indicated he will not apologize for the operation in the area.

He added that although the military personnels operated outside their jurisdiction, their action is justified because when we are not in normal times, you cannot expect normal things to happen.
