Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongo Constituency has disclosed that the economy of this country is at the brink of calamity.

He made this statement in reaction to the submission made by the finance minister on the Domestic Debt exchange Program in parliament on February 16, 2023. According to Ablakwa, Ghana is no longer the glowing black star of Africa because of this current economic mess.

Ablakwa noted that Ghana was once the banner of economic development, democratic solidarity and other neighboring African countries were urged to learn from us. However, all these achievements have been corroded away and the country is now the epitome of economic catastrophe.

“We are now in a ditch, the country is on the brink of economic calamity, of Armageddon and devastating economic mess all thanks to a finance minister who has disappointed Ghanaians,” he stressed.

Ablakwa reprimanded Ken Ofori-Atta for quoting the Bible to ask Ghanaians to rejoice in this economic disaster he has caused. He believes Ghana is in a more severe economic mess if the finance minister was able to urge Ghanaians to rejoice.

According to him, the president and his ministers are in a different world devoid of hardships and economic disaster and that’s why the finance minister was able to urge Ghanaians to rejoice.
