David Kojo Kyei, a Ghanaian sound engineer and an ordained man of God professionally known as Kaywa has asserted that being a secular musician is not devilish.
Speaking in an interview on connect FM, Kaywa indicated that it is not easy being a man of God and also a sound engineer. He continued that it comes with a lot of challenges and criticisms from the society.
According to him, he doesn’t understand why some Ghanaians think that secular music is demonic. He added that anyone who frown on secular music but has accepts secular jobs like doctor and lawyer is a hypocrite.
He furthered that he always likens his music career to that of a doctor, politician or a lawyer. Kaywa stressed that secular musicians are not welcomed in churches but a lawyer who defends murderers and thieves would be given a position in the church. “Doctors are given front row to sit in church but if you record a love song, the church has a problem with it. It’s absurd,” he lamented.
Kaywa believes that it is not an error to help someone to flourish in their music career. He added that because of his love for his job, sometimes he does free production for people who he thinks are good.
The music producer furthered that his music career does not conflict with his pastoral duties. He urged all Ghanaians to focus on Christ and desist from criticizing others.
