Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and an aspirant flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made his intention know to the public on how to improve tourism in Ghana when elected as the president.
He revealed his objectives to boost tourism in Ghana in an interview cross section of journalists and monitored by 1Family Radio in the Central Region on one of his tours.
Kennedy mentioned some tourist sites such as Cape town located in South Africa, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil amongst others. He said these attraction sites derives income from the sea but it is rather unfortunate that Ghana is yet to make good use of the sea and some other natural resources.
The lawmaker addressed how he intends to deal with the pollution of the Odaw River in Accra. Since the canal of the river connects directly into the sea, it has become a major problem because it causes flooding whenever it rains.
During the interview, he stated “look at the Odaw River, and the amount of dirt seeping into the sea’’. Now that’s where he will be like Donald Trump to tackle the pollution of the Odaw River. If he should win the 2024 elections, he will build long walls on both sides of the Odaw River to prevent people from dumping refuse into it which will end up in the sea.
He announced that after cleaning of the Odaw River, they will place boats on it to make it possible for people to ride from Circle to Jamestown. He also plans on making some renovations to the Elmina Castle in Cape Coast.
