It has been disclosed by the National Communications Authority (NCA) that about 6.1 million SIM cards have been deactivated by the authority.
According to the CEO of the NCA, these SIM cards that were deactivated belong to subscribers who have failed to complete the second stage of the registration process.
Mr. Joe Anokye, the Chief Executive Officer of the NCA furthered that about 11 million unregistered SIM cards would be deactivated before the end of May, 2023.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra which was monitored by 1Family Radio, Mr. Anokye stated that the mass SIM registration will come to a close very soon.
“One important point to note is that the ongoing mass SIM registration for existing SIMs is coming to a close as mentioned earlier.’’
“There are about 11 million SIMs which are yet to commence the registration process, these subscribers have up to the end of May, 2023, to complete their SIM cards registration or have their SIMs deactivated from the network,’’ he said.
