Ace Ghanaian broadcaster and media personality, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah has asserted that Chinese are very rational and they will not cancel Ghana’s debt for nothing.
The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta on Sunday, March 19, 2023, travelled to China to secure a deal to restructure Ghana’s bilateral debts with that country.
According to KKD, there will be no debt cancellation if Ghana doesn’t give the government of China something valuable.
Speaking in an interview on Onua TV monitored by 1Family Radio, KKD urged Ghanaians to be concerned about the negotiations going on between China and the Finance Minister of the country.
KKD stated, “China’s main aim is to develop to a level that irrespective of how civilized you are, you will still come to them for some technology, seek their help in the production of your goods and also borrow money from them.
“The Finance Minister is going to beg under the pretense of bilateral talks,’’ he noted.
He furthered that the Chinese will not cancel Ghana’s debt for nothing because they are not fools. They will definitely take something in return before cancelling the debt.
“Do you think these Chinese are fools? You think they will cancel our debt for free? They will not cancel Ghana’s debt for nothing,” he noted.
“They will collect something in place of whatever loan they have given us. The big question now is, what is the Finance Minister ready to sacrifice for the cancellation of the debt?’’ he quizzed.
He questioned again, “what are we giving to the government of China behind closed doors in order to get our debts cancelled.
