Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars has disclosed that the team needs to step up their game in order to secure a place in the AFCON.
The Black Stars were only able to score one goal out of the eleven chances they created in their first game against the Palancas Negras of Angola on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Speaking after the game, Chris stated that all they need to do is to be a little more clinical to boost their chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations next year.
“We had eleven chances, so that’s positive. If we had played 96 minutes and we only manged to get two or three chances, then that’s worrying,’’ he stated in a press conference monitored by 1Family Radio.
He furthered that they have to put more effort in their next game against Angola on Monday. “The fact that we have had chances you always know, come the next game or the next game after, you’re going to put some of the chances away.’’
“What we have learnt today is that we need to be a little more clinical when we have those opportunities,’’ Chris hinted.
Leading the group with seven points, the Ghana Black Stars will face Angola on Monday, March 27, 2023, in an attempt to secure a ticket into the tournament should they record another win.
