Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been subdued to some form of hooting during his campaign at the Ejisu Constituency for the upcoming by-election.
This upcoming by-election, which is scheduled for April 30, 2024, was necessitated by the death of John Kumah, the late MP for the constituency.
Chairman Wontumi, during his campaign at Bonwire, was hooted and scoffed at by some alleged supporters of the NPP party.
In a video sighted by 1Family Radio, a section of the electorates were seen booing Wontumi to the place while chanting “away! away!’’ In the latter part of the video, these young men were heard hailing the name of one independent candidate.
The candidate for the ruling NPP party is lawyer Kwabena Boateng. The opposition NDC has, however, withdrawn from the by-election, the reason being that they want to focus on winning the 2024 general elections.
