VGMA Artist of the Year, Black Sherif, has been apprehended at the Kotoka International Airport on the evening of Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
According to reports going viral on social media, Black Sherif was detained at the airport before being taken to the police headquarters in Accra.
The blogger and radio host of Kofi TV, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, confirmed this information. He said that the reason the singer of “Second Sermon” was detained was because he violated a contract by failing to perform at an event in Greece.
“There have been a few developments from the camp of prominent Ghanaian artist Black Sherif. According to information we obtained from the police headquarters, he was apprehended by the Ghana Police Service at the airport,’’ he stated in a viral video sighted by 1Family Radio.
“We are yet to confirm this news from the horse’s mouth, but it seems that his arrest is due to issues with the organizer of the event where he was contracted to play on a yacht in Greece. After charging US$40,000 and receiving half of the amount, he didn’t perform the show as agreed, which prompted the client to file a complaint.’’
“Black Sherif was startled when he was stopped by the police, taken into custody, and then brought to the police headquarters. As of right now, they haven’t decided whether to grant him bail or how to talk to him about paying the money back,” he said.
