Ghana’s iconic boxer, Azumah Nelson, popularly known as Professor, has stated that it will only take a miracle for Ghana to get another legendary boxer of his caliber.
He argues that the majority of modern boxers lack the discipline, hard work, and fear of God necessary to reach his level of success.
The boxer, whose heroics have elevated Ghana to the highest pedestal in the world of boxing, claimed that the bulk of contemporary boxers are unable to put up the work necessary for their careers and are also unable to bear pain.
According to the boxer who turned 65 on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the majority of young people who enter the sport are just interested in the money and rewards they will receive, which is a poor way to begin any career.
The two-weight world champion made this assertion in an interview with Akoma FM, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
“It will take a miracle to produce another boxing legend because most of our contemporary boxers can’t go through the pain and hard work with humility and the fear of God; they don’t have it.’’
“What they think about is only the money, and that can’t be possible. Anyone who wants to be like me ought to learn a lot and be disciplined,’’ he said.
