George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has hailed the media in Ghana for its cooperation with the police service in ensuring peace and security in the country.
He made this commendation when he paid a courtesy call to the management of Despite Media on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Dampare also urged the media and the entire public to assist the police in whatever way they could.
The IGP also emphasized to the media how critical their role is, noting that some people prefer to contact the media rather than the police when they have an issue.
“I don’t have the powers of Okomfo Anokye; I can’t do the work alone,’’ the IGP noted in a snippet of the visitation sighted by 1Family Radio.
“I need your help as well. We need feedback in our line of duty, and so this visit is essential to foster friendship between us and the media because you deal with the people.’’
“Some people even prefer going to the media instead of the police, so I believe we can work effectively if we join hands together. We want the police service to be very attractive,’’ he added.
Fadda Dickson, the Managing Director of Despite Media, gave the IGP his word on behalf of the general media that “we will also do our part to assist you.’’
