An ardent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed the allegations that the NPP is an Akan party.
The party activist cited the recent by-election in Kumawu to buttress his assertion. He noted that the NPP candidate in the election garnered fewer votes in areas populated with Northerners.
“I am using this platform to say that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is an Akan party; accept it or leave it,’’ he stated.
“I am telling you, I am not being ethnocentric here but just stating the hard truth. When we vote in this country, we don’t have to wait for results from Walewale and other areas up north.’’
“We are forced to wait for results from Bantama and others,’’ he noted in an interview with Gye Nyame FM, monitored by 1Family Radio.
He continued that although some supporters of the NPP hail from the north, they don’t win elections for the NPP in this country.
The activist narrated that during the by-election in Kumawu, Dr. Bawumia spent about three days in the Zongo soliciting for votes, yet the NPP candidate didn’t garner many votes from these areas.
