The Investigative Journalism Director at Al Jazeera Network, Phil Rees has stated that they have no reason to apologize to the president of Ghana.
His reply comes in reaction to an inquiry made by a journalist at TV3 whether the letter issued on behalf of the president on the 25th of April has been received by the Doha-based organization and if they will apologize to the president as stated in the letter.
His email in which he replied the inquiry was published by Johnnie Hughes during his program on 3FM monitored by 1Family Radio on May 5, 2023.
The email bears the name of Phil Rees as the Director Investigations at Al Jazeera.
The message read: You are correct. Since the investigation did not actually allege what the President’s Office has suggested it did, we will not be apologizing or removing the documentary from publication.’’
An earlier report by 1Family Radio indicated that the prior the publication of the Gold Mafia documentary, the network wrote to the president outlining the claims made by Mathias Alistair.
