Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a Ghanaian civil engineer and the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has chastised Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer hopeful of the party over a statement he made recently.
His remark was in reaction to the recent claim by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that he supported that NPP party with US$3 million loan for their campaign in 1992 and he also bought several pick-ups for the party during the 2016 general elections.
Responding to this statement by the flagbearer hopeful, the former secretary has stated that Kennedy Agyapong is not the only financier of the NPP party because other prominent people have also supported the party on several occasions.
Speaking in an interview on Hello FM monitored by 1Family Radio, Kwabena cautioned Kennedy Agyapong to stop boasting about the fact that he has helped the party before because others have supported the party too.
The former secretary stated that although he may not have all the details of what really happened, it was irrelevant because the party has been supported by members who had the capacity to do so.
He continued that he is aware that Kennedy Agyapong cited names including President Kufuor as his witness because he led them to take the loan for Adu Boahen’s campaign in 1992 but Kennedy shouldn’t brag about this.
“If Kennedy claims that certain things happened and some people in the party knows about it, it is possible. But he shouldn’t go about boasting that he initiated it and paid off the loan in 1992,’’ he said.
“He is not the only who has helped the party in terms of finances. Others have also supported the party before,’’ Kwabena added.
