Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has advised African leaders to demand better offers from developed countries because we deserve these offers.
According to him, Africa as a continent has contributed to the development of the world and we deserve to be recognize.
Speaking in an interview on the Africa Policy Journal monitored by 1Family Radio, Dr. Bawumia stated that Africans need to realize that they have the power to negotiate for better offers than what they normally demand for.
“It’s obvious that Africa as a continent deserve a seat at the table. We have been a significant contributor to the development of the world in terms of our resources. We are a major bloc. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) has been developed, so this gives us some power on the market and the negotiation power at the table and we must recognize this,’’ he said.
He continued that Africa will only be taken serious on the international market if we are able to make demands for better offers.
“I believe the rest of the world will only listen to us if we able to raise our game. But if we continue going with the current circumstances, we will not be taken seriously. Therefore, let do things that make sense, let’s negotiate for things which are of importance to the continent,’’ Dr. Bawumia added.
The vice president furthered that it is high time African leaders got involved in the fourth industrial revolution. He believes that if Africa is able to understand the application of articificial intelligence, it will be a major boost to its development.
“We were left behind in the first, second and third industrial revolution, but let all get involved in the fourth industrial revolution. I believe with the right application of artificial intelligence, Africa will be able to catch up in many arears,’’ he added.
