Ghanaian politician and legal practitioner, Gabby Otchere-Darko has sued the former Minister of Environment for defamation.
His law suit against Professor. Frimpong-Boateng follows a report on illegal mining by the minister in which he accused Gabby of defending a company which was actively involved in illegal mining.
“What saddened me the most was when Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko called to defend a company that was actively destroying the environment, especially the forest and River Offin in the Apaprama and kobro Forests,’’ the report stated.
In reaction to this, Gabby has filed a law suit against the professor for defaming him and therefore demanding for an apology from the former minister.
The legal document which was sighted by 1Family Radio indicated an amount of money be paid to the plaintiff for general damages.
“The sum of ten million Ghana Cedis as general damages including aggravated and/or exemplary damages for defamation for libel uttered by defendant,’’ the statement of claim noted.
The 10-page document also demanded that an apology, retraction and a perpetual injunction restraining Prof. Frimpong-Boateng from using such defamatory words against Gabby.
