The communications director for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has stated the reasons the organization is yet to appoint a new coach for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Mr. Tsum has earlier reported that the GFA would appoint a new coach by the end of January, 2023. However, the announcement has not been made and Mr. Tsum has explained that this is because there are a lot of procedures involved in appointing a new coach.
He hinted that the mandate to appoint a coach does not solely lies with the GFA but other stakeholders are involved. According to him, if the GFA is the only body authorized to appoint a new coach, they would have done it very quickly and easily.
Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the communications director indicated that, when they are done speaking to the coach, they will also have to notify the ministry, discuss about the salary and then negotiate with salary with the coach. This process takes time which delays the appointment.
Mr. Tsum furthered that the GFA is still having discussions with the ministry of sports therefore he can’t give a specific date for the announcement. He stated that as soon as they are done with the discussions, the GFA will announce the new coach for the Black Stars.
He urged Ghanaians to anticipate for the announcement very soon.
