Twelve suspected cyber fraudsters have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for impersonating some prominent men in Ghana.
It was noted that these suspected criminals were able to impersonate the prominent men after hacking into their social media accounts.
A statement released by the GPS on March 2,2023, sighted by 1Family Radio indicated that these prominent men include Members of Parliament, Ministers of State and some Ambassadors.
According to the statement, these suspected cyber fraudsters created nine hundred and seventy-three fake social media accounts under the names of these big men. Seven hundred and eighty-five of these accounts were in the names of MPs, sixty- two were in the names of security personnels and one hundred and thirty -six were created in the names of Ambassadors and Ministers of state.
The police service is being assisted by these arrested suspects in their investigations before they are brought before court. The statement also indicated that there are over twenty-five suspects to be arraigned.
