As the vice president of Ghana and the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has presented himself as the political future of Ghana, setting himself apart from the ideology of National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader John Mahama, whom he considers to be the political past.
Speaking to a group of party members in Nalerigu, North East Region, on November 20, 2023, Dr. Bawumia pleaded with the voters to support him in the 2024 election.
In his statement, which 1Family Radio monitored, the Vice President stated that he has a plan and a strategy for transforming the nation.
“I want you to vote for me in 2024; we have a new vision. I will bring new policies, and we will transform this country. John Mahama is the past; Dr. Bawumia is the future,’’ he bragged.
Dr. Bawumia took the time to contrast the accomplishments of the current administration with those of the John Mahama-led previous one.
He made particular reference to the dumsor problem, saying that the nation would still be struggling with the effects of an unstable power supply if Mahama were still in government.
If John Mahama were here, we would still be facing a dumsor economy; you can’t have a 24-hour economy with dumsor people. You want to vote for Dr. Bawumia in 2024; we will take the economy to new heights,’’ he said.
