The major opposition party, the NDC, as well as civil society organizations and other stakeholders, have not warmly embraced Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s 2024 budget speech.
They contend that the budget fell short of expectations and neglected to address important issues that were essential to guaranteeing the nation’s economic recovery and progress.
After the budget was presented in parliament, staff members at the Ministry of Finance welcomed the Finance Minister into a praise and worship session, in spite of the harsh response to the budget.
The workers were gathered on the ministry’s portico, signing triumphant songs as they welcomed the Finance Minister, as shown in a now-viral video.
Some members of the public, notably Pru East Member of Parliament Dr. Kwabena Donkor, were offended by this action and did not think well of it.
He thinks that it is improper for public employees to be spotted partaking in such obviously politically driven actions.
He remarked that the Head of the Civil Service should summon the staff members to order right now and that their behavior should not be tolerated.
Ghanaians are voicing their disapproval of the action on social media in response to the video, which has caused an X storm.
