The #OccupyBoG demonstration is all set to begin with a sizable crowd of protesters converging on Accra’s Obra Spot to take part in the event.
Several advocacy organizations, including the pressure group Arise Ghana and the NDC minority caucus in Parliament, are primarily responsible for organizing this protest.
Their principal objective is for the Bank of Ghana governor and his appointees to resign from their positions.
Protestants have made a number of accusations against the governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, charging him with mismanaging the apex bank and causing it to experience financial difficulties.
They further assert that he oversaw reckless expenditure, such as the $250 million building of the new Bank of Ghana headquarters.
Participants will travel from Obra Spot through a number of important locations throughout the protest, including Adabraka, the Ridge roundabout, the National Theatre traffic signal, the High Court complex traffic light, and Atta Mills High Street. Following a loop at the National Lottery traffic light, the march will terminate at Independence Square.
