Nana Obiri Boahen, a former deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared that he will ultimately leave politics if Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is unable to win the party’s election for flagbearer.
In an interview with Radio Universe, which 1Family Radio heard, Obiri made a projection that the vice president will prevail in more than 200 of the 275 constituencies in the upcoming primaries on November 4, 2023.
According to him, the upcoming primaries are just an avenue for Bawumia to solidly cement his status as the party’s frontrunner.
“The Bawumia agenda and the Bawumia issue are non-negotiable. It will never happen that Bawumia does not win. No, it won’t happen anywhere.’’
“I will stop politics if he doesn’t win because I don’t just talk… So whatever I say, don’t challenge, but just accept,’’ he noted.
“When it comes to Ghana politics, I cannot be taken out, especially when it comes to history.’’
He continued, “Because since I was born, I know the history of this country when it comes to politics. So, whatever I say, you must believe it.’’
