A Ghanaian historian and lawyer, Nana Anokye Ababio, has claimed that President Akufo-Addo is endorsing Bawumia’s candidacy because he has temerity about facing prosecution after his term in office.
He claims that the president supports Vice President Bawumia because he wants to safeguard his political legacy and shield his family’s wealth from probable legal repercussions.
The historian said that the president is looking for an appropriate replacement who will preserve his tranquility and protect him from potential prosecution in an interview on TV XYZ that was monitored by 1Family Radio.
“He is considering his old age and what Ghanaians are saying about his government, about running the nation with friends and relatives serving as ministers and appointees, and as a result, he is unable to reshuffle his cabinet; even President Kuffour has called for reshuffling.’’
“Therefore, the president wants to safeguard himself by ceding power to someone with whom he feels at ease and secure so that they won’t bring charges against him and his family. for the sake of his mental well-being,’’ he alleged.
“Akufo-Addo is terrified of Kennedy because, if Ken were to become president today and learn that these people were responsible for several banks collapsing and causing the state financial loss as well, Kennedy would listen to the people and bring charges against them all,’’ he added.
