Belgian professional footballer Romeo Lavia has joined Chelsea after the successful completion of a £58 million deal with Southampton.
After making 29 appearances in the Premier League games played the previous season, the defensive midfielder enjoyed an incredible campaign with Southampton. This attracted the interest of several teams, including Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, the 19-year-old decided to sign with Chelsea for £58 million, joining a host of talented midfielders that includes the two British record acquisitions, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Romeo stated his delight in joining the team and looked forward to meeting his other teammates during an interview with the club, which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
“I can’t wait to meet all my new teammates and build chemistry together to achieve great things together,’’ he said.
Lavia only switched from Manchester City to Southampton last summer, but he quickly established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League.
