The Members of Parliament on the ticket of the largest opposition party in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have boycotted today’s parliamentary session in support of three members of the caucus.
Both the minority caucus leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and the representative for Assin North, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, are scheduled to appear in court today, July 6, 2023, for the hearing of their distinct ongoing proceedings.
The minority chief whip, Kwame Agbodza, said in a statement that this is just the first of a series of initiatives the caucus would take to defend its members until the conclusion of their persecution.
“The minority stands united with our colleagues and, as such, will not be able to honor the business of the house today,’’ parts of the statement sighted by 1Family Radio read.
“This is the beginning of a series of actions that the caucus will be embarking on to end the ongoing persecution of the Minority Leader himself, the Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, and the Hon. Collins Duada.’’
“We wish to reiterate the point that amidst persecution, cooperation will suffer,’’ the caucus added.
