Hopeson Adorye, a stalwart member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed the confidence of Alan Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful of the NPP, in winning the primary elections of the party.
The politician who happens to be a member of the campaign team of Alan Kyerematen He alleged that most of the lawmakers who are publicly endorsing Vice President Bawumia are doing so out of starvation.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, monitored by 1Family Radio, the politician disclosed that some of these MPs are endorsing Bawumia, another flagbearer aspirant of the NPP, because of the benefits they will get from him.
“Although some of these endorsements are fake, endorsements are generally positive. Because I’ll surely give you my public endorsement if I know I’ll gain something from it,’’ he remarked.
He disclosed that a few of these MPs had previously called him to admit that they were supporting Bawumia because they didn’t want to go hungry.
“Some of the MPs who are bragging publicly sometimes call and say that if they don’t do that, they will go hungry.’’
“So, for us, we are not afraid. If someone endorses Alan, fine. But we will not go around promising people things just to get their endorsement,’’ he noted.
“They are bragging that they have over 100 MPs on their side, but if we vote, Alan Kyerematen will get between 60 and 70 votes from parliament,’’ Hopeson added.
