Former President John Dramani Mahama has reacted to a statement made by Nana Akomea regarding the ex-gratia paid to past executives.
According to Nana Akomea, the Managing Director of InterCity STC, Mahama should stop receiving the ex-gratia effective this month if he is really bent on scraping it in his next government.
“President Mahama, today if you claim you don’t believe in the ex-gratia, the ones you have taken, we know that you have spent it already, so we can’t say that go and bring it… “But the challenge I am giving him is that the ones that he will be taking from this month May, he shouldn’t take them; he should stop taking ex-gratia, the same way Togbe Afede stopped and returned his own; he should follow the same principle,’’ he stated in an interview on Peace FM.
The former president, however, has said that Nana Akomea is incorrect in saying that he receives ex-gratia from the government.
Mahama told Nana Akomea on Twitter that he just gets his monthly pension allowance and not the ex-gratia.
“My friend Nana Akomea “It’s really sad what politics can do to a fine mind,’’ Mahama wrote in the post sighted by 1Family Radio.
“I don’t take ex-gratia. I receive a monthly pension,’’ he tweeted.
