Veteran Ghanaian highlife artist Rex Omar has taken a swipe at a comment made by female colleague artist Akosua Agyepong regarding GHAMRO and the late Akwaboah Snr.
In an interview with Akoma FM over the weekend, Akosua Agyepong alleged that the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) neglected the late Akwaboah Sr. when he was in need of their help.
She claimed that prior to the demise of the musician, he confided in her that he only received GH250 in royalties, which according to her was cheating on the part of GHAMRO.
However, Rex Omar has rebutted all these claims by Akosua, adding that she is the biggest liar in the country.
“Akosua is the biggest liar! So why didn’t she speak about it till now that the man is dead?’’ he quizzed in a Facebook post sighted by 1Family Radio.
“We have no such records in our welfare books. Kwadwo was a very proud man and would never say any such thing to anyone.’’
He continued that the late musician requested help from Ghamro on only one occasion during his entire years of sickness.
“During his entire years of sickness, only once has he ever asked for assistance from GHAMRO, and when he did, GHAMRO welfare led took him to the hospital in their vehicle to meet his doctor, and there was no money paid to Kwadwo himself but to the hospital. Records are there to prove this,’’ he explained.
Rex questioned the rapid assumption of Akosua as Kwadwo’s spokeswoman after his death and implored her to stop spreading false information so that the deceased may rest in peace.
“Kwadwo is dead, so now all of a sudden Akosua has become his spokesperson? She should shut up with her fabricated stories and let the man rest in peace,’’ Rex added.
