Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has rebutted the claim that the NPP was behind the distribution of foodstuffs and clothes in Kumawu in order to solicit votes ahead of the Kumawu by-election.
He claims that the video in which some people were captured sharing these items and have been attributed to the NPP is just propaganda by the opposition party, the NDC.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, monitored by 1Family Radio, the politician stated that the ruling party has no hand in the said video, which has since gone viral.
“I have sighted a video circulating on social media whereby someone is having a polythene bag with rice and videoing himself sharing it with someone… Are we being serious in this country? Let me tell you this, the NPP has nothing to do with this,’’ he said.
“If we really wanted to share rice, we would do it at a place where there are a lot of people and give the rice to them; for that, you can say we are sharing rice.’’
But this video whereby someone has just opened his car front with a polythene bag and given rice to a single person… we have grown past this kind of political orchestration,’’ he noted.
“There is another video too whereby two people were videoing themselves and presenting a cloth to one old lady… They have also captured it and circulated it online; come on, we have grown past this level. This is purely propaganda,’’ Nana Boakye added.
