The results of the primary elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) slated for Saturday, May 13, 2023, would see only one candidate emerging as the ultimate winner.
The three candidates aspiring for the party’s flagbearership position would each wish to hear this judgment.
However, the choice will only be made by the thousands of NDC delegates who will attend the voting in all of the country’s constituencies.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and the former mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan, Kojo Bonsu are the three candidates vying for the party’s presidential candidate position.
Although the party faced some obstacles due to an injunction order filed by Dr. Duffuor, this issue has been resolved as the plaintiff has withdrawn his case from court today.
With the presidential and primaries elections coming off tomorrow, May 13, 2023, let’s take a look at the message these candidates have for the NDC delegates.
First on our list is Former President John Dramani Mahama. Making his fourth attempt at gaining presidential power, Mahama during his campaign tour across the country promised to scrape out the ex-gratia paid to the executives, initiating a robust fight against corruption and restoring the economy.
Although he hasn’t disclosed any detailed outline message for the delegates, his campaign theme tells us what he is aiming at, “Building the Ghana We Want.’’

I will restore the economy within two years is the mantra of Dr. Duffuor. Being a businessman and a former Minister of Finance, Duffuor has promised to initiate some projects that will bring honor to the NDC. These include the Ahotor Fund, An NDC Investment Fund, The NDC Pension Fund and also restoring the NDC Heroes Fund.
Creating fiscal space for development, intensifying domestic resource mobilization and expanding access to healthcare services are some of the things he intends on doing for Ghana.

Kojo Bonsu is the former Mayor for Kumasi. He intends on ensuring a peaceful, stable and a prosperous nation for all.
If elected as the flagbearer of the NDC, he has promised to regenerate the party to become a more formidable force across the country to entice more people into the party.
