The general public has been informed about the removal of all packages of Polyfort Suspension from Nigeria by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
Swiss Pharma Limited is the manufactures of the recalled drug in Nigeria. The drug is used in the treatment of heartburn, indigestion, and hyperacidity.
The FDA stated in a statement release sighted by 1Family Radio on May 9, 2023 that the recall was necessary because many ongoing stability tests had shown unfavorable results.
As a sister country, the FDA has advised its citizens to be vigilant and wary of the medications they purchase and take in.
Parts of the statement stated that “the FDA’s surveillance team is actively monitoring the nation’s ports of entry and markets to ensure that such unregistered products are not available in the country.’’
It stated that although the FDA Ghana has not registered the product, anyone who comes across it in Ghanaian commerce should report it to any of the FDA offices located around the nation.
“Please confirm the registered status of regulated products before purchase by visiting the FDA website http://fdaghana.gov.gh or using the Proper platform at https://bit.ly/ProPerFDA.”
