Alex Asante, the deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has praised former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan for his dedication to the senior national team.
Alex narrated that Asamoah Gyan once played for the Black Stars although he had sustained an injury at the Black Stars team.
He also claimed that the former captain risked his health in order to help the Black Stars achieve a successful outcome.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the secretary noted, “I think Asamoah Gyan is the most dedicated player I have ever seen playing for the Black Stars.’’
“Black stars was scheduled to play in a game. Gyan worked out with the team, and the players were all shocked when after checking into the team hotel, his knee began to swell.’’
“Gyan was taken to a roon by Dr. Baba, the team doctor at the time, and everyone could him sobbing and screaming as the team physicians worked to get him ready for the game. Despite the pain, Gyan played the game even though he wasn’t ready,’’ he said.
“Gyan is the most dedicated player to ever play for the national team, in my opinion, because to his devotion and determination,’’ Alex added.
