Ghanaian veteran gospel musician, Piesie Esther has stated that she is not disappointed she lost the Artiste of the Year award to Black Sherif.
Piesie Esther expressed optimism of winning the ultimate award at the 24th Vodafone Music Awards. However, things didn’t go her way as she lost that title to Black Sherif, a Ghanaian rapper and singer on May 6, 2023.
Reacting to this, Piesie Esther had stated that she is actually okay with the way everything turned out to be on that fateful day.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz monitored by 1Family Radio, the reigning Gospel Artiste of the Year noted that all the nominees on the Artiste of the Year category could have won the award because they all put in much effort.
“Honestly speaking, Black Sherif and all the other artistes who made it on there worked hard and any of us could have won the award.’’
“Although it wasn’t an easy competition between me and Blacko, he won and I want to congratulate him on winning the ultimate,’’ she said.
She however expressed joy for how far she has come in the music industry and also for her work being recognized in the industry.
“I have been doing music for almost twenty years now and this is the first time I am winning such an award.”
This is really marvellous and I am so excited and grateful. I want to thank everyone who voted for me,’’ Piesie added.
