Veteran Ghanaian actor, director and philanthropist, Oscar Provencal has called on the government to give funding to producers of short skits and movie series in the country.
According to him, these people are also contributing to the growth of the movie industry in the country.
His plea comes at a time where most local movie producers and directors have ventured into producing of short skits for YouTube and some television series.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio, the veteran actor pleaded with Ghanaians to desist from the habit of comparing the Ghana movie industry to that of Nigeria because we are completely different.
He stated that there is no sense in comparing the two industries because Nigeria has huge population and they are also a bit advanced than Ghana.
“Just take a look at Nigeria’s population and the number of movies they are able to produce annually and compare it to Ghana,’’ he said.
“There is no point in comparing Ghana’s industry to Nigeria because we are worlds apart and Nigeria is more advanced than Ghana so please with all humility desist from the comparisons,’’ Oscar added.
