The contempt case filed against Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa by the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral project has been dismissed by an Accra High Court.
On Friday, February 3, 2023, Okudzeto was served with a restraining order by the court on his way to the Parliament of Ghana after an interview on Accra-based Metro TV.
The writ served him restrained him from making further public pronouncements of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s properties and case of dual identity. Okudzeto kicked the writ on the premises of Metro-TV.
In reaction to this, Rev. Kusi filed a contempt case against the lawmaker. In the petition, he prayed the court to arrest Mr. Ablakwa for his conduct.
However, the contempt case was dismissed by the Accra High Court on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. According to the court, the evidence provided by the plaintiff is fraught with inconsistencies and doubt.
Fifi Kwetey, the general secretary of the NDC stated that the case was an exercise of futility. He made this assertion after the ruling in an exclusive interview monitored by 1Family Radio. The general secretary noted that this was attempt by the man of God to prevent the truth from prevailing.
The court ruled that case failed to meet the standard of proof beyond doubt.
